WOW - that looks so interesting!
Did I ever tell you about PHASES OF THE MOON #1 "Resistance is Fertile" by stacey marie and alexander?
BEST parenting zine this year! truly intense. its all about open adoption, her year of pregnancy, difficult questionings, radical stuff, heartbreaking.
I hope she sent you her zine and her writing is in here. and if not - it will be something for her to read! She bought "Breeder" and loved it, but felt so left out, alone, needed tales of radical birth mothers.
i'm excited about this issue 37!

GREAT ISSUE! Two thumbs up.
Ariel,
CONGRATULATIONS on getting knocked up!! My favorite part of the issue is your writing on getting pregnant again. I'm so excited to hear about mamas who have teenagers and babies. I want to get knocked up soon and finally give my 13 yr old a brother or sister. I've been scared to start all over but you make me feel brave.

Does anyone know a way that I can order just this one current issue of Hipmama? I really have an interest in reading this issue but lack the funds for the complete subscription.
Thanks!
You can buy single issues at Hip Mama Shop
I'm current, yes? I need one! - mariah
Rebecca Walker sounds vapid, and the whole dis on non bio-moms? Dude. Was she really that deeply lame? It's a bummer if so. Cause I really like To Be Real. but true her parts aren't startling and brilliant.
Oh well. We can only hope M'Shell has actual depth.
I loved almost everything in the issue.
I was a bit bothered by Rebecca Walker's comments on love & biochildren.
It felt like an out of place thing to say in the ADOPTION issue.
She sounded super stiff & uptight -I felt sad for her, and sad for the non bio moms that might feel hurt by her words.
Women need to be believed more and if they say they love their children that come to them from other ways; adoption, step kids, foster kids, partners kids etc. then we need to believe in the power of that kind of love, and in those bonds.
sorry to ramble, I guess I was bothered more than I thought...
