Peace on earth? Not in our subdivision!

DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- A homeowners' association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign that some say is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

Some residents who have complained have children serving in Iraq, said Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs.

He said some residents believed the wreath was a symbol of Satan.

You know, it is ironic that the truth was spoken without the speaker realizing how true it really is.
Yes, that is a symbol of Satan alright, not the peace symbol it is fashioned into, but rather the whole Christmas wreath which symbolizes the tree-shop-money-retail-holiday
hype-Santa-satan-etc-etc-etc. But I do think that in the shape of a peace symbol, it does have some redeeming qualities...

To paraphrase an old troubadour friend of mine:

"He's not the Kind you have to wind up on Sundays....or just Decembers."

I hope they keep the wreath up and tear up the bill.
Instead of moving forward I think society is becoming less toleratant.

Yes, less tolerant on both sides, however. Today it's a peace wreath and tomorrow the Nativity in downtown needs to be removed. Old St Francis, the originator of the first creche, would never understand what exactly we mean when we say this separation of church and state as we remove the creche. Surely that is as harmless as a peace wreath. I would hardly fear the Catholics taking over in this great state of secular Oregon or in this Protestant country of ours. Nor do I think the lovers of the peace wreath plan anything too vile or subversive. We should all take a deep breath: let it be!

Even if the wreath was a "anti-Iraq war protest" since when did that become a finable offence?
